May 13, 2018 | James: Where Real Faith Meets Real Life

An Upside Down Kingdom

James 2:1-13

In James' letter, believers receive very practical, matter of fact instruction for how to live as followers of Christ. This week, Pastor David walked us through James 2:1-13, where James warns against the sin of partiality. Re-read those verses as you consider these questions.

  • Think of a time when you judged a person and/or situation based on external factors. Based on this Scripture, how should you have approached that person/situation?
  • How might limited resources, financial & otherwise, actually help believers in their spiritual lives?
  • In the affluence of our culture, how can we guard against having an unhealthy relationship with wealth?
  • If others evaluated your commitment to God by measuring your behavior toward others, especially those that are disadvantaged in some way, how well would you perform?

Quite possibly, as you have honestly answered these questions, you have felt challenged to improve in this area. Today, thank God that "mercy triumphs over judgment"! Then, ask God to show you at least 1 opportunity, this week, to model "mercy over judgment" in your sphere of influence.
