Using, primarily, Jen Wilkin's "Better: A Study Of Hebrews", we will dig in, verse-by-verse, and explore how God "provided something better for us" in the person of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 11:40). Through stories of Old Testament heroes and practices, the author of Hebrews demonstrates how the new covenant is superior to the old one and how Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of every promise.

Join us as we walk through Jen Wilkin's "In His Image", by exploring ten characteristics of who God is: holy, loving, just, good, merciful, gracious, faithful, patient, truthful and wise. This book helps us understand who God intends for us to be. Through Christ, the perfect reflection of the image of God, we will discover how God's own attributes impact how we live, leading to freedom and purpose as we follow His will and are conformed to His image.

Parenting: Gospel Principles

This life-giving book offers parents much more than a to-do list. Paul David Tripp presents a big-picture view of God's plan for parents by outlining fourteen principles centered on the Gospel. With the rescuing grace of God that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents, we are freed from trying to manufacture life-change in our children's hearts and can embrace a perspective of parenting that overflows with vision, purpose and joy.

Ordinary Discipleship by Jessie Cruickshank

Jesus told His followers, "Go and make disciples of every nations", but a lot of us never even start because we feel like we don't have what it takes. But Jesus didn't didn't ask spiritual superstars to make disciples. He invited ordinary people into the adventure of following Him. Jessie Cruickshank learned how to be a disciplemaker in the wilderness. When she connected her training in outdoor adventure ministry with her Harvard degree in neuroeducation, God showed her a pathway for ordinary disciples of Jesus to experience profound spiritual growth.

Celebration Of Discipline by Richard J. Foster

In this semester (Part 2 will be taught in Spring 2024), we will begin to explore the "classic disciplines" of the Christian faith: meditation, prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, solitude, submission, service, confession, worship, guidance, and celebration. We will study each of the 12 disciplines in a two-week cycle of reading, discussing as a group, and practicing. Join us as we discover that the purpose of spiritual disciplines is to "allow us to place ourselves before God so He can transform us" (Celebration Of Discipline, p. 7).

Thinking About God

The more we grow our understanding of God's identity and distinctiveness the better armed we are to face our real-world, everyday challenges with vibrant spirituality. This study explores these qualities of the God we worship: the one God in three persons, the God who speaks, the God who suffers, the God who triumphs, the God who saves, and the God who is all holy and all glorious.

Moms in Prayer

WOMEN: 6:00 p.m.// Room 251 North - September 6 through November 29, Led by Alice Elmore

In this group, Dawson moms meet together and pray during the school year for our children and for their schools. Moms in Prayer is an international organization that impacts children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering moms together to pray. Please join us and pray for your children or grandchildren of any age!

Men's Breakfast & Bible Study

MEN: 7:00 a.m.// Social Hall - Begins September 11, Led by Dr. Neal Schooley

This group will be studying the Minor Prophets. Breakfast is available for $6. Extra tables are set up for those who do not wish to eat but want to participate in the Bible Study. Dr. Schooley send out his reading notes each Thursday or Friday in preparation for the following Monday's study.
