MOVING AROUND CAMPUS

After years of study and preparation, Dawson will begin the construction process for the renovation of our Sanctuary on Monday, June 9, 2025, which is expected to last 14 to 16 months. During that time, the entire Sanctuary building, including the Fellowship Hall and Kitchen, will be closed and not accessible. Beginning June 8, 2025, all three worship services will be held in the Family Recreation Center (FRC) on the normal Sunday morning schedule—8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. The worship content will remain the same, as our choirs and orchestra will continue to lead us. 

The following items are important things you will want to know when we begin worship in the FRC.

SUNDAY TRAFFIC FLOW

  • Traffic flow and pedestrian movement will be different and the adjacent map shows how people will be moving around the campus on Sunday mornings. 
  • Manhattan Street will be closed every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Dale Avenue and at Evergreen Avenue. Gaineswood Road will also be closed in the middle of the block. 
  • There will be two golf cart pick up locations. Shown by the blue lines on the map, Pick Up #1 will run between the North entrance of the North Building to and from the FRC. Pick Up #2 will run from under the overpass to and from the FRC. 
  • Please be aware that the golf carts will return to their original pick up locations and will not make drop offs along the way or to individual vehicles. The golf cart shuttles are for those with limited mobility only. 
  • The current handicapped lot on the corner of Oxmoor and Evergreen will be the construction staging area. Handicapped parking will be relocated to the horseshoe area of the North Parking Lot as shown on the map.
  • Valet parking will be available at the North entrance of the North Building, shown on the map.
  • The North Parking Lot is currently reserved for Senior Adult parking. If you are not a Senior Adult, please continue to use the Parking Deck across Oxmoor Road.
  • External access to the West Building elevator will be from Evergreen Avenue along the front of the West Building.
  • The entry/exit to the FRC will be through the double doors on the West side of the FRC, shown in green on the map. Those doors can be accessed from both Manhattan Street and Oxmoor Road. 
  • The doors on the East side of the FRC (in red on the maps) are our main exit points. After each service, those who are able are asked to exit on the East side to prevent incoming congestion for people entering the FRC for the next worship service. 
  • Please help us to be good neighbors by not parking in Trinity UMC’s parking lot.
