To Be Found Faithful: The Parable Of The Ten Minas
Luke 19:11–27
This week, Dr. David Eldridge, Senior Pastor, shared a special parable of Jesus from the book of Luke.
GOING DEEPER:
• On the first Palm Sunday, Jesus told this parable as He came near Jerusalem. As you read over Luke 19:11–27 again, what are your thoughts?
• Before the telling of this parable on the road to His own death, Jesus met Zacchaeus, who was forever changed by the encounter. Zacchaeus came down from the tree to live a life marked by repentance and generosity. Jesus had that kind of impact on people: no one is too far gone, and no one has a past that is too dark, and no one’s story is too messy for the transforming light of God’s grace through Jesus. Who do you think is too far gone for God’s grace? How can you change your schedule this week to make more time to prayer for him or her and for opportunities to share the good news of the Gospel with this person?
• While we are more comfortable with the Jesus who is supportive, calming, and reassuring, this is a jolting story that confronts us. Believers and followers of Jesus all receive the same gift of redemption from the King of Kings. Our role is to invest the gift of the Gospel with others (Matthew 28:18–20). How are you living out your “investment mandate” from the Lord?
• Pastor David explained that for followers of Jesus, every aspect of our life is a gift given for the purpose of kingdom investment. When are you tempted to have a “fine china” faith? How are you using your salvation, career, abilities, education, finances, health, family, suffering, joy, and challenges for God’s kingdom? How are you being faithful with the 86,400 seconds you have every day?
