The Lamb Of God
John 1:6–8; 19–34
This week, Dr. David Eldridge continued the series from the Gospel of John. In these verses, he expanded on two points:
- The Heart Of The Messenger
- The Heart Of The Message
GOING DEEPER:
- Have you ever had to introduce someone else at a company event, board meeting, or fundraiser? Describe the circumstances. Did you “get the details right and get out of the way” as Pastor David described?
- John the Baptist came as a witness to point others to the Light. He declared he was not the Light. He pointed people away from himself and to Jesus. He models the humility that every follower of Jesus should exhibit. How are you following in the footsteps of John the Baptist?
- John the Baptist boldly proclaimed the heart of the message of the Gospel: Jesus is the perfect, spotless lamb that will be sacrificed for the sins of the world (v. 29). He said that Jesus is the one that Isaiah foretold hundreds of years ago (Isaiah 53:6). Jesus took upon Himself what we deserved and died in our place. Have you placed your faith in Jesus to save you from your sins? If not, who can you talk to this week about Jesus? If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and placed your faith in Him alone to save you, who do you need to introduce to the beautiful message of God’s love? How can you change your schedule this week to make more time to pray for opportunities to share Jesus’ love with a family member, a friend, a co-worker, or a neighbor?
