Wisdom On Full Display

Proverbs 8

This week, Dr. David Eldridge continued the series in Proverbs. In these verses, he expanded on three points:

  • We All Have A Desperate Need For The Wisdom Of God
  • Wisdom Is Found Not In A Set Of Principles But In A Relationship
  • How Do I Grow In Wisdom? Grow In Your Love And Dependence Upon The Wisdom Of God—The Son Of God, Jesus

GOING DEEPER:

  • Proverbs 8 teaches us that there is a voice wiser than the collective wisdom of the internet and more trustworthy than following your heart or living out your truth. Pastor David shared that we all have a desperate need for the wisdom of God. Sometimes our decisions are just about getting the right information. However, many times, our decisions are not simply about what is right versus wrong—they are about being wise in situations where facts are not enough. How are you currently seeking wisdom in your life?

  • Pastor David shared that wisdom is found not in a set of principles but in a relationship. God desires for us to find and follow His wisdom. The New Testament writers would draw from this deep well to describe Jesus as the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24; Colossians 2:1–3). Wisdom is first and foremost found in a loving relationship with the wisdom of God, the Son of God, Jesus. Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? If not, who can your reach out to this week to talk about deciding to follow Him?

  • Pastor David shared that we grow in wisdom by growing in love and dependence on the wisdom of God, the Son of God, Jesus. God honors an earnest heart, and we get wisdom by pursuing the One who is wisdom embodied, wisdom incarnate. How do you need to change your schedule this week to make more margin for silence, reflection, journaling, and prayer for wisdom from the Lord?

  • God is the wisdom we need for every aspect of our life. When you feel lost, or disoriented, or fearful/anxious, or are just trying to find your way back on the path, hear Him calling your name and trust His wisdom that will never lead you astray. How will you trust His wisdom this week and take up your cross in every circumstance you face and follow Him?
