The Vision For Generosity
1 Chronicles 28–29
This week, Pastor David continued a sermon series entitled Faithful Together. In this message, he shared two truths about giving:
- We give because everything we have is ultimately from Him.
- We give because it brings us joy.
GOING DEEPER:
- Pastor David shared that the Bible speaks so clearly about the call of God on His people to live generous lives. Who modeled generous giving for you? Describe. Who taught you to tithe?
- As Christians, we do not have to go to a specific place to worship God; we are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). While God is not confined to a building, a sanctuary serves as a place where the people of God can gather to pray, to sing, to hear God’s word proclaimed, and to encourage one another. How can you change your schedule this week to make more time for silence and prayer as you discern how God is calling you to give generously to Faithful Together?
- Pastor David explained that we are called to give generously because everything we have is ultimately from God. We are simply stewards of what God has entrusted to us. This is the heart of our stewardship. How can you invest in the “line” of God’s greater purposes that stretch out into eternity instead of in the “dot” of your years on this earth?
- We also give because it brings us joy. The ancient people of God gave freely and willingly, and the result was rejoicing. Do you know this joy? Do you know that God always tells the truth? Do you believe that God will never fail you? Do you believe in His nearness and in the beauty of joining Him in His work all around you and far beyond?
