Sermon Title: A Lasting Impression

Scripture: John 12:12–16

 

This week, Blake Jenkins, Dawson’s Minister to College Students, shared a message about Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. He shared two truths from this passage:

 

1. He is the King who is in control, whose ways are good.

 

2. Jesus is more concerned with fulfilling His Word than with our expectations. 

 

Going Deeper:

 

1. In Jesus, the crowd thought they had a king who would overthrow the Roman government. We know this by what they waved and what they said. What significance did the palm branches have to the people who were waving them? What was the significance of adding “even the King of Israel” to their cry from Psalm 118?

 

2. As Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, He fulfilled the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9–11. How does Jesus’ kingship give you peace in your daily pressures and conflicts?

 

3. How are the truths from this message significant for every week, not just Holy Week?

 

4. Blake shared that Jesus came to deal with our most pressing need, which is our sin. Have you allowed Jesus to meet your most pressing need? If not, will you make the decision to follow Jesus today? If you know Jesus as your King, who do you need to introduce to Him?
