Sermon Title: The Garden of Gethsemane

Scripture: Mark 14: 32–42

This week, Pastor David shared two truths from Jesus’ experience in the Garden of Gethsemane.

1.     We Need One Another

2.    We Are Loved Sacrificially

Going Deeper:

1. Pastor David began the sermon by telling us that love has found us: Love, not based on our subjective feelings or opinions, but based on the sacrificial love of Jesus. Have you embraced the truth that you are fully and deeply loved by your Savior and Lord? Explain.

2. This passage reminds us that human flourishing is not found in isolation. Think about the friendships in your life. Are they authentic? Are they prayerful? What is God calling you to do in the area of your friendships this week?

3. Jesus’ distress in verses 33–34 was not a fear of death. Rather, He feared the alienation (separation) from his Father while He bore the punishment of every sin that has been or will be committed. How does this truth make you see your sin more clearly?

4. Pastor David shared this truth about our prayers: God will either give you what you ask for, or he will give you what you would have asked for if you knew everything he knows. How can this truth comfort you? How can this truth change the way you pray?

Additional Discovery:

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. ~ Jude 24–25
