Family Faith Talks Conversation Starters:

June 9 Family Faith Talk: What did Daniel and his friends eat? (Only vegetables.) Daniel and his friends ate vegetables and drank water because they wanted to obey God and show they loved Him. We can obey God and show we love Him, too. What can we do to obey God when we are at our homes? (Listen to our parents. Be kind to our brothers and sisters. Help others.)

June 16 Family Faith Talk: What happened when the men were thrown into the fire? (They weren’t burned.) God took care of these men who loved Him. Who does God give to take care of us? (Parents. Family.)

June 23 Family Faith Talk: What did Daniel tell the king? (There was going to be a new king.) Daniel loved and obeyed God. We love God and want to obey Him, too. One way to obey God is to do the things our parents tell us to do. How can you obey your parents at dinnertime? (Help set the table. Share food.) When you play with your brother or sister? (Be kind. Share toys.)

June 30 Family Faith Talk: Who did Daniel pray to? (Only God.) We can pray to God, too, and He will help us. What can we say when we pray to God? (We love You. Thank You. Please help us.)

July 7 Family Faith Talk: How did Ruth help Naomi? (Gave her food she had saved. Gathered grain for food.) Ruth loved Naomi and that’s why she was kind to her. Ruth was patient because she did not complain about the hard work she had to do. We can show love to others by being kind and patient, too. Being patient means not being bossy or complaining. How can you show patience when waiting for a turn to swing on the swings? (Don’t whine or complain. Stand and wait quietly.)

July 14 Family Faith Talk: At first, Jonah did not want to obey God. But God sent the big fish to show Jonah that we needed to obey God. What did the people in Nineveh do when Jonah told them they had disobeyed God? (They listened and obeyed God.) We obey God when we love other people. Who are some people you love? What can you do to show love to them? (Give them a hug. Say kind words. Help them.)

July 21 Family Faith Talk: What did King Josiah do with God’s words? (Read them to all the people. Helped the people know how to obey God’s words.) We can obey God’s words, too. God’s Word teaches us to love others. What can you do to love others in our class? When you are a good listener, you are showing love. Who can you show love to at home? How can you help your dad?

July 28 Family Faith Talk: How did Jeremiah and Baruch help people know about God’s words? (Wrote them down. Read them to people.) Jeremiah wanted his friends to learn from God’s words. He helper, Baruch, wrote them down for the people. We can show love to our family and friends by helping them learn about God’s Word. What are some ways we can help others learn about the Bible? (Tell them what the Bible says. Invite others to church. Sing a song about Jesus.)

August 4 Family Faith Talk: What did Nehemiah help people do? (Rebuild the city wall.) Nehemiah and the people all worked together and helped each other. We can help others and show that we love them. Who can you help at home? What can you help your mom do in the morning?
