For the last three years, Dawson’s Student Ministry has been serving in the Dominican Republic with our mission partner, Mission Emanuel. Mission Emanuel’s goal is to come alongside those who are in need and show them the love that the Father has for them. To date, Dawson’s students have had the opportunity to help build several homes, share the Gospel with many families, and visit the children at their schools. One major need we have found is for a new school playground for the children.

Dawson’s Student Ministry is partnering with Mission Emanuel to make this need a reality through a student-led stewardship initiative called Project Playground. Our goal is to help with the cost of the playground to provide a safe place for the children to play. The playground will be a gently used playground that will be used each day by the hundreds of children who attend the school.
In the Dominican Republic most everything has to be imported. The playground is being imported from the United States, and with shipping, taxes, customs, and installation, the price of the playground significantly increases. Dawson Students hope to provide a financial gift to help get the playground to the children at the school.
As a part of our Fall Stewardship Emphasis at Dawson, our goal in this project is to help the Dawson students learn biblical stewardship by providing a tangible way to give to a project many of them have served with in recent years and will have the opportunity to serve with in the future. It has been neat to see the students catch this vision and learn to give sacrificially and generously to a Kingdom initiative.
