Acts: Pentecost

Acts 2:1-13

This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series on the book of Acts with a look at Pentecost. We looked at:

  • The Declaration of God: Pentecost is God’s declaration that the Gospel is for the nations.
  • The Mission of God: God’s mission is to make Himself known to all nations through a called people.
  • The Power of God: The Spirit of God empowers the people of God to join the mission of God.

GOING DEEPER:

  • Luke wanted us to see, hear, and feel what happened on the Day of Pentecost. What is the significance of the images of wind and fire? When you imagine the gospel writer’s details, what do you see in your mind’s eye?
  • Pastor David shared that Pentecost ushers in a new chapter in redemption history where the power and presence of God is with the people of God in a way like never before. What amazes you about the coming of the Spirit on all the people? What are some of the ways you experience God’s Spirit in your daily life?
  • Pentecost is God’s declaration that the Gospel is for all nations. Pentecost is a preview of the type of family that God is calling. How does this truth give you hope?
  • The Spirit is in you to seal your salvation, to secure you fully in Jesus, and to lead you to grow and look more like Jesus. The Spirit helps you accomplish His mission to make Himself known to your neighbors and to all the nations. What is the Spirit of God calling you to do on mission for Him?

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
