October Memory Verse

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

Dawson Welcomes New Associate Minister to Children

Dawson is excited to announce that Hannah Price has been called to serve as our Associate Minister to Children. She will begin at Dawson on October 9, 2023. Hannah is engaged to Spencer Adams. They will be married on December 16, 2023. Hannah is a graduate of the University of Alabama and will graduate from Beeson Divinity School in May of 2024. She is currently serving in a part-time children’s ministry role at another local church in the Birmingham area. She has also taught ballet in our Dawson Ballet program for the last two years. She has a clear call to serve in the local church and specifically with children’s ministry. We are excited to have Hannah join our staff and look forward to seeing God use her to serve alongside our Minister to Children, Meg Brown, in ministering to our kids and families. Please join us in praying for Hannah and Spencer as they make this transition to join the staff at Dawson.

Christmas for a Child

Every year, Dawson members and Life Groups provide Christmas gifts for over one hundred children. This year is no exception; however, the ministry details have changed to be able to provide for more children. Here are the details:

  • This year, children from our Kids Connection ministry will be the recipients of your newly purchased gifts.
  • There will be 13 different size and age-group lists for you to consider.
  • These shopping lists will be located in the Sanctuary Foyer beginning Sunday, October 1.
  • Simply follow the instructions on your list and return the new gifts to the Gathering Room (1st Floor North) anytime from October 1–November 30.

Please note that multiple children may receive the items you purchase instead of a single individual. For more information, contact Ben Hale at bhale@dawsonchurch.org.

NEW ADULT BIBLE STUDY BEGINS OCTOBER 11 Beginning October 11, 6:00 p.m.–7:15 p.m., 258 North

Join Dr. Ken Mathews for this 7-week Bible Study beginning October 11. The more we grow our understanding of God’s identity and distinctiveness, the better armed we are to face our real-world, everyday challenges with vibrant spirituality. This study explores these qualities of the God we worship: the one God in three persons, the God who speaks, the God who suffers, the God who triumphs, the God who saves, and the God who is all holy and all glorious. Please visit dawsonchurch.org/fallstudies for book information and to register for this study.

FALL SCRIPTURE EXPERIENCE FOR WOMEN Tuesdays, October 3–24, 8:15–9:00 a.m., Aldridge Gardens

Dawson Women of all ages are invited to return to Aldridge Gardens to experience the refreshment of the forty-sixth Psalm on Tuesday mornings at 8:15 in October. We will meet at Aldridge Gardens and Kristen Torres will facilitate a time of meditating on, praying through, and reflecting on this comforting Scripture passage, both as a group and individually. As we experience God’s creation, our prayer is that He will “lead us beside still waters” and “restore our souls.” Please visit dawsonchurch.org/women to learn more and to register.
