Jacob Pierce
Jacob is a Birmingham native and grew up in the Oak Mountain area. He gave his life to Jesus as a 10 year old at FBC Pleasant Grove and grew into his identity in Christ through the faithful investment of his parents, coaches at Oak Mountain and student ministry leaders at Valleydale Church. You can catch him in his free time at the State Park playing golf, running, hiking or mountain biking. He appreciates giving and receiving kudos on Strava. His journey at Dawson began as a Student Ministry Intern while studying Business Management as an undergraduate at UAB. Many of the students he had the privilege to build relationships with during that time are now Young Adults! After graduation, he stepped in to a new role as Associate Recreation Minister at the FRC and continued to serve in other areas at Dawson. In 2017, he moved to Dallas-Fort Worth to pursue his Master of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In Texas, he worked in collegiate and young adult ministries in both church and parachurch contexts and worked for several years in K-12 Construction as an Assistant Project Manager. During the pandemic, he acquired a BBQ smoker and is continually working to hone his craft in Texas-style brisket or Alabama smoked chicken and pulled pork. It turns out that this hobby is useful for gathering others around the table and intersects well with his heart for ministry. Jacob came back home to Birmingham and Dawson in 2022 to assume the role as Minister to Young Adults. As he has sought to trust Jesus alongside loving brothers and sisters in Christ in the locational transience and spiritual transitions of young adulthood, he is passionate about encouraging and equipping others to do the same.
