Acts: Devoted

Acts 2:42-47

This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series on the book of Acts with a look at what the early Christians were devoted to.

  1. A Healthy Church Is Devoted To The Word Of God
  2. A Healthy Church Is Devoted To The Worship Of God
  3. A Healthy Church Is Devoted To The Care Of One Another

GOING DEEPER:

  • From the description of the first church in these verses, we learn that a healthy church is tethered to the word of God. As the people of God today, we must cling to the word of God as our authority and submit to the word of God instead of judging it. What is your daily pattern of studying God’s word?
  • We see the early church modeling worship by consistently engaging in prayer as modeled by Jesus. As believers and followers of Jesus, prayer is the lifeline to our spiritual growth. How do you need to change your schedule this week to create more time to spend in prayer?
  • Pastor David shared that another mark of the healthy church we see in Acts is their devotion to caring for one another. The early church members provided for the needs of each other because Jesus had given to them freely, voluntarily, sacrificially, and generously. How can you leverage your material possessions and your time to help take care of your brothers and sisters in Christ?
  • Based on the witness of the early church in Acts, Pastor David asked us to contemplate these questions this week:

1) What are you truly devoted to in your daily life?

2) What is it that truly captivates your heart?

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Numbers 6:24–26
