EXODUS: Covenant

Exodus 24:1–8

This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series from the book of Exodus with a look at God’s confirmation of His covenant with the nation of Israel. We were reminded that:

GOING DEEPER:

  1. In these verses, we read of the formal establishment of God’s covenant with Abraham to establish the nation of Israel. What was the people’s response to the “words” and “rules” of that covenant?
  2. When Moses communicated the terms of the covenant to the Israelites, he wrote down all the words that God spoke to him and he spoke all the words that God gave him so that the people would know what to do. How does God’s word guide your actions? How do you learn from God’s word?
  3. Because we serve a God who is not silent, we know God’s affection for us and His expectations of us. When we are immersed in the word of the living God, we are transformed over time. How do you need to reorganize your schedule to allow for more time to immerse yourself in God’s word this week?
  4. Pastor David reminded us that, even though we want to obey God’s word, we fail and we sin. When that happens, Jesus is the perfect sacrifice. His blood covers our sin and reconciles us to a Holy God. The only solution for the guilt that haunts us is the blood of Jesus. Have you received Christ’s gift of salvation? If not, are you ready to do that?
