A Joy Made Complete

1 John 1:1–4

This week, Pastor David began a series on 1 John with a message about finding true and lasting joy. He showed us that John, the author of this letter, pointed readers to Jesus as the source of joy with a look at:

  1. The Divinity Of Jesus
  2. The Humanity Of Jesus
  3. The Power Of Jesus

GOING DEEPER:

  • In 1 John 1:1–4 and John 1:1, the Apostle wrote that there was not a day when Jesus didn’t exist – there was never a time prior to Jesus. Jesus is eternal and worthy of worship. Is Jesus where you find your joy? Why or why not?
  • John emphasized Jesus’ humanity–we saw Him, heard Him, and touched Him. In an age of skepticism, these words give evidence of the historicity of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. How does this evidence give you confidence to face challenges in your life? Explain.
  • Pastor David opened the message by asking, "Where do we find lasting joy in life?" John points us to Jesus. Joy comes in fixing our eyes on Jesus. What practical steps can you take this week to continue to grow and develop a deeper relationship with Jesus?
