EXODUS: Glory

Exodus 39:32–40

This week, Pastor David concluded the sermon series from the book of Exodus with a look at the completion of the Tabernacle. We saw that:

  1. The Work Is Done
  2. His Glory Descends

GOING DEEPER:

  1. In Exodus 39:32, we see that the work of building the tabernacle was completed. What is the signifiance of the phrase “as the Lord commanded him” that appears seven times in this chapter?
  2. In Exodus 40:35, we learn that “the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.” While we can’t begin to describe the fullness of God’s glory (grandeur, worth, holiness, magnificence), we do get a glimpse of it in the canvas of creation. When have you been at a loss for words at the beauty of creation?
  3. Pastor David shared that the tabernacle is a preview of coming attractions that is ultimately fulfilled in the living tabernacle, Jesus the Christ. Explain what that means in light of what we read in John 1:14.
  4. We are headed to an eternity where the fullness of God will dwell with each of us, and we will behold God’s glory. How does this reality give you both peace and joy?

“The link between father and son is not only for the perishable flesh. There is a place called ‘heaven’ where the good here unfinished is completed; and where stories unwritten, and the hopes unfulfilled, are continued. We may laugh together yet…”  ~J.R.R. Tolkien
