The Life Of David: Mephibosheth

2 Samuel 9

This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series on The Life Of David with a look at David's kindness toward Mephibosheth.

GOING DEEPER:

  • How would you define the word “grace” as you have experienced it in your life?
  • Mephibosheth was given what he could not earn, did not sign up for, did not go looking for, and did not deserve. How do you respond when you receive something you do not deserve and cannot possibly earn?
  • The word “kindness” in 2 Samuel 9:1, 3 & 7 is a Hebrew word that can be translated as covenant love, compassion, and grace. While David could not heal Mephibosheth’s disability, he changed everything for him by giving him protection, provision, and position. What defines you? How can God's kindness change you?
  • This beautiful glimpse into David’s life is why he is called a man after God’s own heart. His kindness in seeking out Mephibosheth points us to a much greater King. King Jesus loves all of us who are crippled by our sin, crippled by our disbelief, and crippled by our flesh. How would you describe what King Jesus has done for you?

The grace of the LORD Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. ~ 2 Corinthians 13:14
