The Life Of David: The Justice Of God
This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series on The Life Of David with a look at David's anger.
GOING DEEPER:
- In the honor and shame culture of this story, David is publicly shamed by Nabal and a response is required. However, David’s anger clouds his judgement and he overreacts. Describe a time when your anger has caused you to overreact. What were the consequences?
- Pastor David shared that David is not the hero of the story; God is the hero. David is a mixed bag of faithfulness and compromise. How does your life and attitude resemble David's?
- Abigail, whose name means "good sense," is a wise voice in David's life. Who do you have in your life that is able to be a wise voice to you? Are you willing to listen to that voice? Why or why not?
- We look to Jesus, not David, as our example in trusting God’s timing and purposes. Jesus knows what it means to be insulted and rejected. Even so, Jesus entrusted Himself to His Heavenly Father who judges justly. This is the way of Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. How can you choose the way of Jesus in the week before you?
