SERMON SERIES: Galatians

SERMON TITLE: “I Once Was Lost But Now I’m Found”

Galatians 1:11-24

This week, Pastor David continued the sermon series, "Galatians" by taking a closer look at our testimonies of faith.

  • Think about your life before you knew Christ as Savior & Lord. How would you describe yourself during that time?
  • What is your “I Saw The Light” moment, your testimony of the “light” breaking forth?
  • How might Christ followers be tempted to feel superior to others? What is the problem with that line of thinking?
  • Think about your own “identity.” Your joy, your boast, your center, your topics of conversation. Do those things show that Christ is your identity? Why or why not?

ADDITIONAL DISCOVERY:

For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers.But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles…

~ Galatians 1:11-16

Thy mercy, my God, is the theme of my song,

The joy of my heart and the boast of my tongue;

Thy free grace alone, from the first to the last,

Hath won my affections and bound my soul fast.

~ John Stocker

"Being cut hurt. No doubt, being told I couldn’t do something that I loved doing and was so passionate about—playing quarterback—left me shaken. What do you do when something that has defined you your entire life is gone? When your platform disappears … When your perfect family is torn apart … When you go bankrupt … When your looks fade …I am a child of God. My foundation for who I am is grounded in my faith. In a God who loves me. In a God who gives me purpose. In a God who sees the big picture. In a God who always has a greater plan. Who am I? I am the object of His love."
