The Foundation Of Redemptive Kingdom Diversity

John 3:16

This week, our guest speaker was Dr. Jarvis Williams, Associate Professor of New Testament Interpretation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His message, “God Loves the World: The Foundation of Redemptive Kingdom Diversity,” was drawn from John 3:16.

  • Dr. Williams said that John 3:16 is an incredibly encouraging verse. How are you encouraged by the biblical truth that God loves the world and loves you personally?
  • God’s love is not primarily an emotion but an action. Why is that important? What does God’s love “in action” mean to you?
  • Dr. Williams shared that “belief” is more than affirming certain theological propositions about Jesus. Rather, “believing” is having exclusive faith in Jesus alone and complete loyalty to Him. How does this description challenge you? What changes do you need to make as a result?
  • One of Dr. Williams’ main points was that “God breaks into our ethnic differences with a bloody cross and with Jesus’ resurrection.” How might this statement change the way we engage in conversations with our family members and friends regarding ethnic differences in our current cultural climate?

May the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

~ Numbers 6:24–26
